This is not going to be easy for me. My name is Jason Zamkoff; I was a colleague of Jason French’s at Children’s Hospital Colorado, and a very good friend of his. Simply stated, Jason was a well-respected physician, a loyal and giving friend, a caring and loving husband, and a wonderful father. And he will be greatly missed.
At the hospital Jason was beloved by everyone, from patients and families, to ancillary and custodial staff, to his peers, to the Chief Medical Officer of the institution. I went to medical school with Jason. I have many memories of him, but one that stands out above the others was one morning I was leaving the hospital after call (during residency) and I found my car with a flat tire. It was very cold and I was very pregnant. Jason was on his way into work and saw what was going on and he came over and changed my tire. He did not make a big deal of it. It was like this was something he did every day. I thanked him and he went on in to work. I have never forgotten this act of kindness.
